If you’re looking for a dessert to wow that special someone, look no further than this Chocolate Lava cake. And if you’re feeling extra festive, try making it in a heart-shaped dish.
I’m a lover of almost all things chocolate. That almost is key because there are some bizarre chocolate covered foods in this world that I’d rather not eat. The first thing that comes to mind is chocolate covered crickets, ew. Chocolate covered insects will never be my thing. Chocolate lava cakes, on the other hand, I just can’t get enough.
My first time making a molten chocolate cake was precisely two years ago, it was Valentine’s day, and I was at Sur La Table for a romantic cooking class with my husband and in-laws. Up until then, I always thought of these cakes as a complicated dessert. Little did I know, chocolate lava cakes are much the opposite. They’re prepared quickly and only require very few ingredients. They’re equally gooey as chocolaty and when served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream they’re an awesome dessert for kids or adults.
