Thanks to hurricane Irma, the weather has turned and Atlanta’s temperature is in the 60’s. As you can imagine, it’s really starting to feel like fall over here. Today was rainy and cold, which meant I was craving a warm meal. This amazing biscuit chicken pot pie is the ultimate comfort food. Instead of making a traditional pot pie with a pie crust, I used biscuits to create a flaky delicious topping. The filling is packed with carrots, peas, onions, celery, mushrooms and chicken while the top is light and soft. This meal screams home and warmth….
I spent two days dreaming of beef short rib ragu.
This weekend, Erik and I were in Baltimore celebrating our friends’ wedding. It was my first time in the city and I was impressed. The streets were cobble stone and the restaurants were quaint. On Friday night, we walked around Fells Point and wandered into a restaurant with live music. When it came time to order dinner, the short rib slider was calling my name. I thought I had my mind made up until Erik reminded me that I was in Maryland. He convinced me to order the crab cake. I’m glad I did, it was absolutely delicious and definitely lived up the “Maryland-crab” reputation….

Last night we finally returned home from a week long family vacation in Florida. We couldn’t have asked for a better trip, the week was filled with sunny weather, strong drinks, and delicious food. Although Georgia is still pretty warm, the drop in temperature had me craving some hot soup and the heavy thanksgiving dinner had me longing for veggies. Did I mention we ate A LOT of heavy food? I threw together a pot of my grandma’s soup, a family classic, and it was everything I wanted. The soup broth has a lot of flavor, it’s great by itself though I think the real reason it’s so delicious is the homemade dumplings we pair with it.Try out my grandma’s infamous recipe and let me know what you think!
P.S. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Today I made a hearty vegetable soup. It’s a spin-off of my favorite minestrone without the beans and noodles (since we’re trying to eat light). I’ve been trying whip up some healthier meals because as soon as our wedding was over, we really took indulging to a new level. Erik especially. The Monday after the wedding Erik ate two bagels loaded with butter, a chocolate donut, a large Oreo mint chocolate shake, chicken parmesan and a basket of bread finished with a handful of M&Ms. I know what you’re thinking, EW! So for that reason
