Vodka Sauce

If you’re looking to sneak in one last bite of deliciousness before you start the New Year diet, try this creamy tomato sauce over pasta. And if any of you are as clueless as my husband then yes it’s true, vodka sauce is really made with real vodka! No wonder why the stuff is so good! Don’t be intimidated by the full cup of vodka, the sauce actually has a mild taste once cooked through. Bon appetit!

  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • 1 onion, diced
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup vodka
  • ½ cup of cream
  • 2 cans of diced tomatoes (I used 1 can of Italian seasoned tomatoes- basil, oregano)
  • Salt & pepper to taste


  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add onion, sauté until translucent
  • Add the garlic and red pepper
  • Pour in vodka and let cook for 10 minutes
  • Mix in diced tomatoes and cook for 20 minutes to burn off all vodka
  • Transfer sauce to blender
  • Pour in heavy cream and blend until smooth
  • Pour the sauce back into a sauce pan and reheat
  • Add salt and pepper to taste
